INDIA ON US PIVOT STRATEGY

   India is one of the great powers in the world with the population of 1.1 billion. In Asia, it is one of the two emerging powers. With its geo-strategic position and its standing, India is pursuing regional and global ambitions. In spite of the fact that it is not an Asia-Pacific State, India has for long been engaged in the region especially since the US has intensified its presense in Asia-Pacific with its Pivot Strategy. India’s response to these US Pivot sterns from the definition of Indian core interests in the region and India holds the hope that it can help to create an counter weight to China while still maintaining steady ties with China and Russia. Earlier, India had supported the US MDP and the US fight against terrorism. This article holds at the Indian views on this US Pivot Strategy.
