Reviewing the Results of Cambodia’s 6th National Assembly Election and Its Policy Orientations in the Coming Time
At the recent election of Cambodia’s 6th National Assembly, the CPP had a sweeping victory and taken all 125 seats in Cambodian National Assembly. This article will seek to analyze the context when the election was organized and recapitulate that the situation, both internationally and domestically, is favorable for the CPP. CPP has been well-prepared for the election by holding its early congress and mapping out an appropriate political party platform. All of the party’s activities have been significantly reformed; meanwhile, opposition parties were incompetent and unable to compete with the CPP in all fields. These are reasons for the landslide victory of the CPP. It is forecasted that there will be no remarkable changes in the policy orientations of CPP in the coming time. In terms of foreign relations, CPP will depend more on China and may have adjustments in their relations with the US and the West.
