Viet Nam’s Encirclement - Breaking Diplomacy in the Diplomatic war against the French 65 years ago

65 years ago, the young Democratic Republic of Viet Nam was recognized by 10 Socialist and Peoples’ Democratic countries, including two big powers: USSR and China, leading to the establishment of diplomatic relation between Viet Nam and these countries. This has been an great event in the foreign relation history of Viet Nam, as it which took place in the context of rapidly changing world, especially with the success of Chinese revolution that transformed the regional face; the Governments of Peoples’ Democratic countries in the Eastern Europe having been reinforced, the Soviet Union was strengthened; the Cold War being launched by the United States against the Soviet Union and the Socialist countries and the gathering of all minor Capitalist countries in a coalition against Communism; the war against France after the victory of Viet Bac campaign. All these were moving to a new phase with strategic initiatives, in preparation of final victory. In this context, President Ho Chi Minh had visited China, the Soviet Union unofficially in secret (January to March), a great decisive contribution to the successful diplomatic mission to overcome the isolation. The above event made an critical political implications on the Vietnamese revolution: Viet Nam smashed the isolation by imperialism; established links to the world, especially became an integral part of the Socialist camp. With these, Viet Nam had received a massive support and assistance both material and spiritual for the war against the French invasion, leading to the success of the long and arduous resistance war.
