“The Active Pacifism” and its impacts on the region

The “active pacifism” pursued by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, together with his administration’s recently increasing defence budget, is having considerable implications not only on Japan’s comprehensive power but also on its neighbours foreign and security policies. The future impacts of the “active pacifism” on the architectures of the global and regional governance are still far from clear. This article analyzes theoretical basis of “active pacifism” and examines its practical implications on Asia Pacific in the coming time.
